1 min read

Chinese Chan

In China,Chan developed from Bodhidharma, who is said to have come from southern india and introduced Buddhism here since 520.There-fore Bodhidharma has been regarded as China’s first Chan master, though from Mahakasyapa’s line he should be counted as the 28th.However,Chan Buddhism was divided into two rival schools,a southern school led by Hui Neng and a northern school led by Shen Xiu.
