The huge vigor shown by China today vividly demonstrates the wide freedom and democratic rights enjoyed by the Chinese people.The population of China was about 60 million as early as in the lst century AD.For several thousand years，the challenge for every government in the Chinese history has been providing the people with basicnecessities of food，clothing，housing and transportation.As a huge country with a population of over 1.3 billion，it should put the rights of living and development in thefirst place，without which other rights are impossible.In China，collective and individual human rights are closely linked to the development of economic，social and cultural rights，as well as the development of civil and political rights.

The Chinese nation has been looking for an independent national spirit and development path.Independence has been viewed as the foundation of building the country.A brilliant Chinese civilization has been created through constant efforts over 5，000 years.The Chinese people get stronger with their own efforts in the struggle against foreign invasion and regain independence in modern times and finally become the masters of life.
Independence and self-reliance include learning from other countries and sharing the fruits of world civilization.The two often go hand in hand.
Precious historical experience had been learned from the richest and most powerful Hanand Tang Dynasties，when China worked hard to develop by itself and widely learned from foreign advanced cultures.
The Chinese people have followed their own development path and entered into the economic，political and cultural affairs.Meanwhile，the Chinese people have seriously taken in and used fruits of the advanced world civilization，which have greatly improved the development of China.But it must be noted that the learning process is not simple imitation.China failed to copy the development model of Western capitalist countries，or to follow the socialist patterns of other countries mechanically.On the contrary，it must follow the developing road on its own conditions.The Chinese people will continue to move forward firmly to build China into a richer and more powerful country.
