Hangzhou Paradise

2 min read

If you and your kids are more into rides and rollercoasters than swans and swallows, then you might want to head in the direction of a few amusement and theme parks.Way out in Hangzhou’s southeastern Xiaoshan District,an area which is still only perhaps a 40 minute drive from downtown,is Hangzhou Paradise, which is perhaps the city’s oldestand most established amusement park.Separated into a number of different sections, including an Ecological Amusement Park, the Holland Village Theme Park, and the Travels of Marco Polo, this large, slightly manic park touches all the amusement park bases to which we’ve all become accustomed:rollercoasters?Check.Ferris wheel?Check.Over-priced food?Check-plus a handful of fun shows, performances and themed restaurants.

The park also includes a large water park that includes a massive wave machine that can create waves that crash in at over 1 meter high.A fun day out for all the family.

Once you’ve had your fill of Paradise,if you’ve still got the energy, you could take the kids for a stroll around nearby Xianghu Lake.It contains a small beach(called“Play with Water by Golden Sand”)where you can play sand with your kid by the lake While Xianghu Lake is not quite as beautiful and certainly not as iconic as West Lake,it’s still quite stunning and certainly worth an hour or so of your time before you head back to the city for some well earned rest and rollercoaster-dream-filled shuteye.
