1 min read

Guangxi is the region with the greatest concentration of ethnic groups, being populated by 12 native ethnic groups Zhuang, Han, Yao, Miao Dong, Mulao, Maonan, Hui, Gin, Yi, Shui, and Gelao. The Zhuang are the most numerous, with a population of 16.80 million, and are China’s major ethnic minority. Guangxi is home to 95% of all Zhuang people and they account for 33% of Guangxi’s total population.

Over a long period living and working alongside each other, the various ethnic groups in Guangxi have developed harmonious relations. In particular since the founding of the People’s Republic of China when ethnic policies were implemented, the different groups have built and developed sound relationships, mutual trust, support, respect, and communications. The Central Government believes that Guangxi is a model for ethnic solidarity national unity and stability, for the interdependence between the Han and ethnic minorities, and between the various ethnic minorities demonstrates the strong sense of affinity amongst the Chinese people.
