In 2011, the yield of tomatoes in China accounted for 18% of the total yield of the entire world. Xinjiang is China’s largest base for tomato products processing and exporting, and its yield of tomatoes and total quantities of processed tomato products are just next to that of the United States and Italy. In 2012, the planting area of tomatoes in Xinjiang reached 440km,with a yield of 3.7 million tons. Currently, Xinjiang has built 317 tomato processing and production lines and the annual production capacity of tomato sauce has reached 2 million tons. Now, the tomato sauce products produced in Xinjiang are sold to more than 100 countries and regions in the world, with an annual volume of exports of more than 700,000 tons, ranking first in the world.
