1 min read

The Tianshan Mountain formed as early as before the Han and Tang Dynasties, was rarely known by descendants for its perilous road conditionsand few passers. According to the archaeological discoveries,a great number of silk fabrics and porcelains used by the traveling merchants in the Qin and Han Dynasties are remained along the Tianshan Road.

According to the historical records, in the 15th century, the envoy Chen Cheng of the Ming Dynasty as well as the Shah Rukh mission of Persia took this ancient road to visit the Western Regions and China. The route of Tianshan Road is starting from Turpan in the east, traveling west and passing through Toksun, Alagou Balguntay, Bayanbulak, Narat, Xinyuan and Tokkuztara to Yining, and then traveling west along the lli River.A greater part of the whole line travels through the ridges of the Mt. Tianshan, valleys and grasslands, and there are alot of meadowland and wild forests with beautiful scenery along the road. The new Balguntay-Yining Tianshan Road now is built basically along the ancient road.
