Tian’anmen Square

Tian’anmen Square,located in the center of Beijing,is the largest city-center square in the world,where you can visit Tian’anmen Rostrum,Monument to the People’s Heroes,Great Hall of the People,the Mausoleum of Chairman Mao,the China National Museum and see the national flag raising ceremony.Standing to the north of the Tian’anmen Square,the Tian’anmen Rostrum has 5 passages totally.It was the main entrance of the royal palace of both the Ming and Qing Dynasty and is perfectly in the south-north central axis of Beijing.The granite Monument to the People’s Heroes is just right at the center of the Tian’anmen Square.It is made of granite,which was built in 1952.It is the largest monument in China’s history.Erected in 1959,the Great Hall of the People is located in the west of the Square.This building is the site of the China National People’s Congress meetings and also hosts other political and diplomatic activities.The Mausoleum of Chairman Mao is at the south side of the Square.The China National Museum,at the east side of the Square,is another attracting place for the tourist to visit.Chinese national fag-Five Star Red Flag,flies high in the sky above the Square almost everyday.At present,with an area of 440,000 square meters,Tian’anmen Square has become a relaxing place for the common people to fly kites and walk.

From Beijing Railway Station:Take Subway Line 2,then change for Line 1 to Tian’anmen East.

From Beijing South Railway Station:Take bus No.20 to Tian’anmen Square.
