Guangxi’s long history has left it studded with a multitude of historic and cultural heritage sites, particularly in the east and north. Among its precious cultural heritage sites arethe renowned Buddhist tourist destination of West Mountain in Guiping which combines natural scenery and humanistic value; Zhenwu Pavilion in eastern Guangxi, an architectural masterpiece of south China and a key cultural heritage site under State protection; the Lingqu Canal in Xing’an, Guilin; the Residence and Mausoleum of Prince Jingjiang in Guilin; and the Eighth Route Army Guibei Office. Other famous sites include the Baise Uprising Memorial Hall Yuedong Guild Hall which served as the original Headquarters of the Red Army Seventh Corps; Chieftain Mo’s Office known asthe Zhuang Forbidden City Chengyang Bridge in Sanjiang County, one of China’s four great ancient bridges; and the Leaning Tower of Guilong in Chongzuo County, one of the world’s eight leaning towers.
