HIGH-TABLE DINNER

2 min read

Beijing Normal University- Hong Kong Baptist University United International

College (UIC)

The relocation of the Zhuhai campus of UIC from Jinfeng Road, near the Tangjiawan area to the historical Huitong Village in 2017, was not just a geographical change. It was a heaven-made match, just like spring rain soaking into the fields. It is a university setting roots where it originally belonged.

The merger of the village and the elite higher education institution marks the start of the rise of the Zhuhai version of “Cambridge Town”. The watchtowers and ancestral halls from the Qing times came to life. The village’s rich historical distillation adds luster to the “blue blood” of UIC and becomes part of the texture of the soul of the university.

A compact estate of only about 20 hectares, the campus serves 6,000 students with a Learning Resources Center that has a seating capacity of 1,800 and more than 150,000 books and journals, all in English. For many UIC graduates, the university’s high-table dinner tradition is a most beautiful memory.

Jointly founded by Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University(HKBU), it is the first full-scale cooperation in higher education between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong SAR, shouldering the historical mission of advancing the internationalization of Chinese higher education and taking the lead in implementing liberal arts education in China. Since its first enrollment in2005, UIC has grown into an international institution with innovative educational approaches.

Teaching staff from more than 30 countries and regions make it possible for UIC to use English as the medium of instruction.
