1 min read

The Great Yimamujiapashadike Mazar Relics is 80km north of today’s Mingfeng County. According to the legend, the last war of the Kara-Khanid Khanate for conquering the Khotan Lee Khanate in the 11th century occurred here, and a memorial temple was also built here in the 12th century after Yimamujiapashadike who was the fifth-generation great-grandson of Islamic leader Mohammed died in a battle here.

Every summer and autumn, pilgrimsfrom Khotan, Kashgar, Aksu, Hami and so on come here in an endless stream to worship. Sometimes, the pilgrims are as many as over 6,000, presenting a spectacular scene. It is said that coming here to devoutly worship for seven times is equal to worshiping once in Mecca. The wooden fences around the mazar are fully covered with colorful cloth streamers. The great mazar now has become the holy land in the heart of Muslims in both southern and northern Xinjiang which is a main tourist attraction of Minfeng County.
