Fayu Temple is famous for its ancient buildings, beautiful wood carvings and handwritings by the ancient kings. It is located on the left side of Baihua Hill’s top Fayu Temple was built in the year 1580,during the Ming Dynasty. When the monk Da Zhi prayed to Guanyin,he predicted that a big bamboo would be washed ashore on the 1,000-pace Beach. After a short period of time,he built a hut on the beach. And he gave the hut the name of Haichao Temple. The Haichao Temple was greatly expanded as time went by.Then,in 1699,Emperor Kangxi ordered that the abandonedroyal palaces must be moved to Putuo Mountain so as to enshrine Guanyin.Emperor Kangxi also placed a tablet in the hall.On the tablet, there are four Chinese characters,“Tian Hua Fa Yu.”Thus, the temple got its name.

Now,there are 294 halls and rooms in the temple.A small golden pagoda stands between the 9-dragon wall and the first hall.In the first hall, people can throw coins through windows for good luck.In the temple,9 dragons playing with pearls are carved into the middle of the ceiling.
