1 min read

The Demon Town on the Sea is located on the east coast of Lekule Lake (Xiaohaizi)and the entrance of Ulungur River 14km from the Fuhai County in Altay Prefecture, commonly known as the East River Mouth, and the transportation is very convenient. The scenery here is very peculiar with the integration of coastal scenery and the charm of canyons.

Looking eastward at the lake outlet, one will see an area of rare Yardang landform remains about one hundred meters away from the lakeshore, which stretches from north to south for more than ten li, and the slope is in the shape of a round bucket. Xiaohaizi is surrounded by nine valleys with different characteristics in proper order, namely the Valley of Love, Valley of Snakes, Parted Bridge Valley, Cold-hearted Valley, Valley of Nine Windings of Narrow Trails, Crane Valley, Valley of the Maze Holy Hawk Valley and Saker Falcon Valley.

The average vertical height of the slopes is over 20m and the landforms in peculiar shapes have he been formed owing to the wind and rain erosion all the year round, some like the magnificent palaces, some like the mysterious and solemn temples, and some like lions roaring to the sky, and so on. Viewing from afar, it is like a castle floating on the water, so it is vividly called the “Demon Town on the Sea”by local people.
