Yuyuan Garden holds a lantern festival every year at the end of the Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year. The myriad colors and celebratory atmosphere of the annual Lantern Festival brings large crowds of locals and tourists alike to light lanterns and enjoy the festivities.

St. Ignatius Cathedral of Shanghai, Xujiahui The St. Ignatius Cathedral of Shanghai, also known as the Xujiahui Cathedral, is the seat of the Catholic Church’s Shanghai Diocese. Construction on the cathedral began in 1905 and was completed five years later. It was once known as “the grandest cathedralin the Far East”, but suffered damages in 1966 at the outset of the Cultural Revolution.The cathedral, China’s first church built in the Gothic architectural style was repaired in 1980.
