The Development of TV Market

2 min read

Television, which made its first serious appearance in 1939,did not become common until the early 1950s.Since then, millions of children have grown up in front of the set,and many people now worry about the effect that TV has on the young, and on society in general. Many ordinary parents wish it had never been invented.Like almost anything else, television has its good and its bad sides. One should surely thank its inventors for the joy and the interest that they have brought into the lives of the old,the sick, and the lonely-all those who, without it,would have no pleasure and no window on the world.

Chinese TV Market

In 2004,the global production value of gaming, animation and derivative products reached over $500 billion. The production value of the Chi-nese animation industry recorded over RMB 30 billion in 2004,RMB 70 billion in 2005 and is projected to reach RMB 300 billion in 2009.

Analys International believes that an environment conducive to the development of the Chinese animation industry has been securely formed. An upsurge in Chinese animation investment, which is represented by substantial private capital in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, has caused Hangzhou(capital of Zheiang province)to become a significant animation base in China. The continued development of the animation industry will bring about a profound impact on TV program markets.China-made animation programs will reach 70%of the overall Chinese TV animation market by the year 2009.

The Changes of Chinese TV Market

The Chinese TV market is facing three dramatic changes:the migration from CRT to flat panel TVs,and the similar moves from analog to digital TVbroadcasting and from traditional distribution to networking.

Corresponding to these changes are the establishment of Chinese audio and video-related standards, including the high definition code standard, high definition display standard,3C standard, digital home standard and digital TV broadcasting standard.
