Teeing off at Shenyang Shengjing Golf club

2 min read

This idea of adding something other than water therapy to a hot springs resort is rather ingenious. After all,how long can you really sit in hot water?Even as I would sit there fully relaxed enjoying myself in a steam room or a whirlpool,I did start to feel a bit guilty.Did I earn this pampering?Fortunately for those of us who want to validate the reason for such a trip there are many excellent options available.

As Liaoning is a province most thought of for its winter climate, there are abundant skiresources to choose from and many resorts are either nearby or have developed their own private ski slopes. These facilities are great and offer everything from rentals to classes withmultiple runs for all skill levels. Lift tickets are affordable giving tourists a good excuse to venture up here for the winter.

Caddies are available to accompany every golfer at the Shenyang Shengjing Golf Club.

Golf courses have become equally popular and are being carved out all over the province.

Golf is a sport that is steadily gaining popularity in China and as tourism increases golf tourism is on the rise. One particular course in Shenyang, the Shengjing International Golf Club is a stunning example of the facilities on offer to the sports enthusiast. Designed by the award winning Michael Coate, this 18-hole course is modeled after the famed Augusta course in the US.A challenging course complete with doglegs, long straightaways and fast greens is an attractive venue that many call the “business card”of Shenyang.

I visited the course and was pleasantly surprised at just how lovely it was. Built nearly 15 years ago, and nestled in the middle of rolling forest, the course is an emerald jewel of Shenyang’s countryside. The clubhouse offers all of the amenities any player could ask for including a well-stocked pro shop, caddy service, restaurant and lounge and modest yearly membership fees. While I visited in the spring and the course was awash in green I was told by Sunny Zhang, the membership supervisor, that the course is at its most picturesque in the fall when the surrounding forest lights up in reds and oranges as the leaves turn for the season.

If sports are not your wish, then sightseeing is of course another draw and in Liaoning there are ample locations to visit.
