2 min readWe have walked through the several thousand years’ history of the Great Wall. In closing the book, we ponder deeply the arduousness of the development of the Great Wall. Having another look at the Great Wall today, which has silently crossed the tunnel of time and gone through all the wars, what do we want to say and how do we feel?A hard and rough history of the Great Wall is just the great history of China. We have walked along with the Great Wall forward, one step after another, and are deeply aware that the Great Wall is the miracle, the great won der created by the ancient Chinese people, and the resplendent treasure in the Chinese history. The “Ten-thousand-li Great Wall”is not only the pride of the Chinese people, but also the treasure of the world, and of the whole mankind. The Great Wall played a very important role in protecting the safety of the people and their properties inside the Great Wall, developing the economy and culture in the north area, stabilizing the central plain area and promoting the land transportation between China and the western countries, etc.
The world is moving forward, and today, in the peaceful and prosperous China, the old Great Wall seems to have long lost its important original military significance, only a tourist attraction for people to visit, ponder on the past, and enjoy the beauty of natural sight. It just like an old general who used toserve in the army for all his life but now is getting aged and having no chance to exercise his abilities. Yet he is stll watching silently the people leading the life of their own times, telling people the truth of the history with his own language and continuing to witness the development of China.
