Located in northwest Qianxi County,14 km to the county seat, Jingzhong Mountain was crowned a “World Famous Mountain”by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty and is a Grade AAA A scenic zone. Jingzhong Mountain has three characteristics.

The first is a beautiful natural landscape. It has more than 3,000 pine trees more than two centuries old. Zhang Taifu,a great poet of the Qing Dynasty noted that”numerous pine trees standon rocks,a pathway reaches to the sky”. Following the 1872 steps, tourists can enjoy the great view of pine trees against thestrong wind in the gullies and picturesque sceneries. The second characteristic is spectacular ancient buildings.

As early the Song Dynasty, there were ancient buildings in the mountain and three complete religious buildingclusters were formed by the end of the Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty on the foot, hillside and peak. The phrase”seventy-two temples and one-hundred-six golden Buddha”describe the prosperity during its height. The third characteristic is a profound religious culture. Jingzhong Mountain is a complex of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism.

Emperor Shunzhi and Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty visited the mountain six times and Emperor Shunzhi invited an eminent monk Xingzai to the Imperial Palace to give lecture on Buddhism, starting the tradition of the Qing Dynasty inviting eminent monks to the Imperial Palace. For hundreds of years, Jingzhong Mountain has seen endless streams of pilgrims, especially at the two temple fairs held on the 18th day of the fourth lunar month and the 15th day of the tenth lunar month, which attract numerous merchants and pilgrims.
