As a national forest park and a provincial scenic area, Mount Mingyue is located 31kilometers southwest of Yichun City and covers an area of 136 square kilometers.

It features charming natural scenery, rare selenium hot springs and centuries-old Zen culture.

Mount Mingyue consists of tens of mountains such as Mount Taiping, MountYujing, Mount Lao and Mount Yang. Mount Mingyue derives its name from the Chinese word for bright moon, which locals claim it resembles. The mountain becomes a tourist attraction for its fertile land, luxuriant vegetation, abundant rain water and great waterfalls. Besides, its charm also lies in its wild flowers, soaring cliffs, strange pines and bizarre stones. Here you can see two deciduous Huamulian trees, the last two existing in the world.

Mount Mingyue can be divided into five scenic areas and one tourist resort. They are Tanxia Scenic Area characterized with cloudy valleys, plunging waterfalls and soaring cliffs; Taiping Scenic Area with sunrise and the mountain meadow; Tangjiashan Scenic Area with strangely-shaped peaks and odd rocks; Yangshan Scenic Area with Zen culture and folk customs; Yujing Mountain Scenic Area with rare plants and wild animals; Hot Spring Tourist Resort with recuperation, holiday, leisure and entertainment. The main scenic spots in the well-developed Tangxia Scenic Area include Zhenhe Rock, Lingguan Temple, Suspension Bridge, Fengdong Tower, Cloudy Valley Plunging Waterfall, Lion Peak, Seven Colors Peak, Camel Peak, etc. It is the ideal place for you to enjoy all the beauties of nature.

Tourists can’t miss enjoying the hot springs here. There are geothermal hot springs with 800-year-old history. The hot springs are distributed within the range of 0.8 square kilometers in Hot Spring Market Town. The center of the hot springs is 168 meters above sea level. The water runs out of the granites which are 470 meters below the ground. The water yield reaches 7000 tons per day. The temperature of the hot springs is about 68℃~72℃ all the year round. The hot springs have the haracteristics of colorlessness, tastelessness, fine water quality, sulfur-free, low mineralization, low natrium, rich selenium and high silicic acid. There are nearly 20 kinds of minerals which are beneficial to people’s health. Some have inhibitory effect on cancer and tumour; the others have remarkable treatment for cardiovascular, digestant and renal diseases. Hot Spring Town now has established 18 provincial and municipal nursing homes with full reception and recuperation establishments.

The Zen culture is also a great feature of Mount Mingyue.The temples have been built as early as the reign period of Liuheng(202-151B.C.)of the Western Han Dynasty(206B.C.-8A.D.),and lots of people gathered here for worshipping.Many monks from India,Japan and Korea visited here.Now at the two sides of the site of the temples people have found hundreds of monks’tombs of the Tang,Song,Ming and Qing Dynasties.
