Jingpo Lake in Ning’an

The Jingpo Lake（also the Mirror Lake）is about 50 kilometers to the southeast of Ning’an City，and 110 kilometers away from Mudanjiang City in Heilongjiang Province.It is said that a beautiful and kindhearted girl named Hongluo lived there.She had a magic mirror.Wherever disaster occurred，she would flash her magic mirror and give happiness back to the people.The Heavenly Queen Mother wanted to get the mirror and sent a god to steal it away.Hongluo followed the rays of the mirror to the Heavenly Palace，where she tried to retake it from the Heavenly Queen Mother.

But in the struggle，the mirror fell from the sky to the earth，and became the beautiful Mirror Lake at once.

In fact the Jingpo Lake is a dammed lake caused by an ancient volcanic eruption during which the Mudan River was blocked by lava.The quiet and clear 1ake，1，200 square kilometers in area，is surrounded by high peaks and dense forests.Water flowing out from the north bank of the lake forms the splendid Diaoshuilou Waterfall，25 meters high and 43 meters wide，the biggest in northeast China，which thunders down a steep cliff to a deep pool below.

The Pearl Gate and the underground forest where trees grow in the crater of four volcanoes add to the attraction of the surrounding wilderness.
