Harbin Ice Festival

As the original and greatest ice artwork festival of China，the Harbin Ice Festival attracts a great number of local people and tourists from all over the world.The annual festival was established in 1985，which starts from 5 January and lasts for more than a month.During this period of time，a plenty of ice artworks will be on a show with the best collections of ice artworks being exhibited in 3　main places，namely，the Sun Island Park，Harbin Ice and Snow World，and Zhaolin Park.In the past，ice artworks usually meant ice lanterns that were made by thelocal peasants and fishermen and used as jack-lights during the winter months.

However，nowadays，it refers to a series of arts that use ice and snow as raw material and combine ice art with colored lights and splendid music.
