Great Wild Goose Pagoda

1 min read

The Great Wild Goose Pagoda has been used for the safekeeping of Buddhist scriptures and statues brought back by Monk Xuanzang of the Tang Dynasty (AD 652) from ancient India.

Of typically traditional Chinese architectural style, it is a five-storey pagoda inside the Temple of Kind Favor to the south of Xi’ an City. The name Great Wild Goose Pagoda came from the Buddhist story that ancient Indian monks buried dead wild geese and built a pagoda to commemorate them. Dramatically, it is still standing tall and upright after many years of disturbances.
