Chinese martial arts culture

Wushu highlights jing (essence), qi (energy) and shen (spirit) as “the three fundamentals” which are closely related to one’s life and health. By integrating the three fundamentals, Wushu is able to use consciousness to exercise breathing, use breathing to improve blood circulation and then promote exercise of bones and muscles to nourish the whole body.

Wushu fully absorbs health preservation theories from Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism and theories of medicine, and emphasizes life experience and freedom of soul. It is actually a life culture, with its main purpose of studying, understanding and serving human beings.

Wushu is different from common sport fitness. Sport fitness aims to exercise each part of the body to make bones and muscles stronger, while Wushu requires both physical exercise and internal practice for health.
