Huludao Scenic Spot

2 min read

The coastal region of Huludao may not be as famous as Dalian yet it offers many of the same economic and cultural attractions making this city a rising star in Liaoning Province.

With over 250 km of coastline, seaside tourism is spectacular here. As a cultural draw, Huludao can claim a wonderful section of the Great Wall officially recognized by UNESCO.

As an outpost for the Ming Dynasty, Huludao offers two spectacular sites for visitors.

The Jiumenkou section of the Great Wall is also unique as it spans a river, the only well maintained section of the Great Wall to offer this viewpoint. The site has been the source to many great finds including large caches of military relics. The Xingcheng Old City is one of the few remaining Ming Dynasty walled-cities that are well-preserved and are naturally a great attraction for those wanting to step back in time and relive imperial splendor.

The seaside has always been the main attraction to Huludao. The uncrowded beaches with the hot springs nearby have long attracted tourists through the years. As many areas in China are famous for producing a particular product, Huludao offers up something a bit more in line with their beautiful coastline and seaside-related industries. Huludao is now one of the three major hubs of swimsuit manufacturing in China and in 201 1 held their first ever International Swimsuit Festival.

Today, Huludao is a thriving and technically advancing city. Like many coastal economies in Liaoning, fishing and seafood are major exports. Additionally, just off the shore are large oil and natural gas fields. Shipbuilding is another strong industry in Huludao.

With large mineral deposits like zinc and molybdenum, and the development of hi-tech zones that are already attracting foreign investment, Huludao offers a solid economy to promote their growing tourism.
